The Rubix Cube Party
Friday night is party night in our swinging circle; there’s almost always somebody arranging something somewhere. Last Friday was no exception.
Malc and I were invited to a Rubix Cube Party, our very first. All we knew is that we were to come wearing an item of clothing from each colour of the Rubix Cube.
Me: yellow blouse, red skirt, green panties, white bra, blue stockings, orange shoes.
Malc: Orange shirt, white trousers, red socks, green boxers, yellow tie, blue shoes.
Finding the clothes wasn’t too easy I have to admit, but we made it fun by visiting charity shops where I found the orange shoes – remnants from the 80s I believe – and a canary yellow blouse, and Malc found the white trousers (he wouldn’t normally be seen dead in white trousers) and the yellow tie.
Anyway, all togged up in our garish outfit – Malc thinking he looked the bollocks despite the orange floral shirt with the yellow tie – and not quite knowing what to expect, we trotted off to the party, bursting with anticipation.
So how does it work? Well, it’s a simple matter of doing the kind of thing you’d do at any non-swinging party… mingle, dance, eat, drink… but every time the host or hostess tooted with an old fashioned brass horn, everybody had to swap an item of clothing, with a view to ending up wearing just one colour. I other words, I might have taken off my red skirt and given it to another woman in return for her yellow one, or – if there wasn’t a woman wearing a yellow skirt – I might have looked for somebody with a blue skirt to match my blue stockings.
In all honesty, even though there were about 40 guests, it would have been impossible for us all to end up wearing the same colour, but let’s face it, who wanted to end up fully dressed at the end of the evening anyway? It was just a novelty way of getting undressed really, but it caused a lot of laughs and broke a lot of ice amongst those who didn’t know each other.
If you ever want to arrange a party with a difference, I’d highly recommend the Rubix Cube.
