Getting To Know The Vulva
It never ceases to amaze me just how little the average man knows about a woman’s body.
I’m not being sexist here; I’m sure there are plenty of women who are pretty clueless when it comes to men’s bodies too, but when it comes to the vulva, a whole lot of men are most definitely in need of some education.
How often do you ever hear anybody mention the vulva? You’ll hear blokes talk about the clit and the vagina (although generally in slang terms) but the vulva tends to get ignored.
I wondered why this was so in order to satisfy my curiosity, I asked a number of male friends and colleagues about it. The result showed that most consider the vulva to be nothing more than a couple of lips that cover the vagina and clitoris, keeping them nice and safe, away from harmful bacteria, blah blah.
Well yes, that is part of the vulva’s job. Labia majora — the large lips — are fatty and designed to fold around the vagina and clitoris in order to protect them. Labia minora are thinner strips of tissue that form a secondary protection of the vagina. But the vulva is more than just protection.
Just like our visible pair of lips, the labia also respond to stimuli. You’ll generally find that they’ll swell when gently stroked or rubbed, opening up to invite you inside to those sweet areas of the female genitalia that you’ve been waiting for. Licking the labia can be very tantalising for a woman; it’ll turn her on, making her want you to touch her clitoris with your tongue.
If her inner lips are long enough, roll them between your lips and pull gently on them. Women love this, especially as the pulling will also stimulate the clitoris.
What I’m saying is that you should never ignore the labia. They’re part of a woman’s sexual make-up and with the right kind of stimulation, can help enhance her sexual pleasure. And you do want her to enjoy herself, don’t you?
