Malc and I have been thinking about arranging something special for our anniversary and while discussing the possibilities, we took a walk along memory lane and one of the memories we decided were the best of our swinging “career”, was a swingers cruise we once went on.
It must have been about five years ago now but the memories are as fresh as they would be if we’d been on the cruise last weekend. But that’s often the way it is when you really enjoy yourself, isn’t it?
Some friends that we’d met through the swingers club we used to visit (sadly, it closed shortly after the cruise) arranged the cruise and sold tickets at about £100 a shot. Not bad considering it was a full 24-hour cruise off of the coast of Spain and included all meals and luxury cabins. There were about forty of us so just enough to make it a real party but not so many that it lost its intimacy. Obviously, our flights and additional accommodation in Spain came on top of the price but as we only stayed for two extra nights and caught a cheap flight out of Luton airport, the whole thing probably came to no more than about £250 for each of us and believe me, that was money well spent, especially as several of us stayed at the same hotel and had a little extra fun on top of the cruise.
The idea behind the cruise was that we would all go onboard at about 4 in the afternoon, settle in and then meet at 6 for dinner. From dinner onwards, it was party, party, party! Cabins could either be locked or left open, depending on how the inhabitants chose to swing, but there was also a lounge where we could swing openly.
The whole boat (or ship, or whatever you’d call a vessel of that size) was luxuriously equipped and champagne flowed freely throughout (included in the price!).
Malc and I made some new friends who we’re still close to today, and arranging a swingers cruise is high on our list of possible ways to celebrate our anniversary.
I’ll let you know what other ideas we have another day.
Sadie xx
