One of the questions that I’m frequently asked by those interested in joining the swinging community is “what if I meet somebody I know?”
Obviously, even though the chances are relatively slim, it can happen. But my standard answer is always, “what if they were to meet somebody they know?”
Everybody at a swinging club or party is there for the same reason: to swing. If you happen to bump into somebody you know, they’re hardly likely to condemn you for doing exactly the same as they’re doing, are they?
Of course, there will be some people who are perfectly happy to let the whole know that they’re swingers (I just happen to be one of those) and who don’t bother to consider whether or not you feel the same way (I’m not one of those). Fortunately, people who are indiscreet generally have short lives within the swinging community as discretion is one of the unwritten rules that we expect everybody to abide by.
But think of it this way. If somebody you know falls into the “I don’t care who knows” category, wouldn’t it stand to reason that you’d already know about their swinging lifestyle? If you don’t, then the chances are they aren’t going to say anything that would embarrass you as it’d mean they’d have to embarrass themselves, too.
My advice is, if you meet somebody you know, just act as you normally would. Be friendly and natural and let them know that you’re new to the scene and still ‘feeling the water’ so to speak. Don’t worry yourself unnecessarily because swingers are, in general, a great bunch of people.
