I’ve devoted a good deal of these columns to the experienced swinger, and not nearly enough to informing novices about the swinging scene.
In order to correct that here are some guidelines regarding one of its best elements, the private swinger’s party.
Like any party, don’t think that just knowing about it means that you can show up and take part. An invitation to a swingers’ party is a must. If you’re not invited that means you’re not welcome. Period.
Obviously if you’re new to the swinging scene, getting such an invitation will take some time. This means spending time at a swingers’ club and introducing yourself to as many people as possible. At some point you’re bound to find a host or hostess of these parties, and if all goes well, before long you can find yourself in attendance.
It’s important to remember that private swingers’ parties do not necessarily mean that all and sundry are engaging in sexual activity. There is absolutely no obligation for anyone to do so.
Take your time, meet the other guests, dance or just converse with them and you’re sure to find that the activities you’re interested in will evolve naturally, without having to be too obvious or forward with your intentions.
Remember it’s a party, the idea is to have a good time, make new friends and interact. Follow the same general rules that you would for any other social occasion; be on time, conduct yourself like an adult, don’t drink too much and don’t do anything you will later regret.
