How many of you know that the garden of England is the home of Viagra, the drug that keeps men going for hours?
Pfizer Pharmaceuticals in Sandwich, Kent is supposedly the place where Viagra was stumbled upon. Because that’s pretty much what happened. The drug, Sildenafil Citrate, was originally developed for something entirely different. The inventors had discovered that the substance was useful in treating heart problems such as angina. It wasn’t until three years later that, during trials of the drug, it was discovered that it also increased blood flow to the penis, leading to an erection when stimuli was given.
Yet another four years were to pass before the drug was approved by the FDA as the first pill to treat impotence. What a breakthrough! Talk about news that spread like wild fire! Everybody wanted some of the wonder drug and it didn’t take long before other companies were jumping on the bandwagon, producing pills that were similar to Viagra.
So there you go, male erectile dysfunction was responsible for putting Kent on the world map!
Thankfully, Malc doesn’t need them
