One question I’m asked time and time again is “how many swingers are there?” Hmmm… how long’s a piece a string?
Really, this is an impossible question to answer. It’s like asking how many gay men there are or how many couples engage in wet sex.
Swinging is something of a surreptitious pastime so there are lots who never ‘come out’, preferring to stay within their own circle of swinging friends. But even if all swingers went around shouting it from the rooftops, who would do the counting?
As it is, the estimate is that there are around 10 million swingers worldwide. But really, what difference does it make? Whatever way you look at it, there are far more swingers than you can hope to meet in a lifetime (or several lifetimes, even) so what does it matter how many there are? What’s important, surely, is that swinging is a popular lifestyle and, because there are so many, there are bound to be other swingers in your area.
I can honestly say that, no matter where in the world I’ve been, I’ve not had a problem meeting other swingers. Ok… I’ll admit that I haven’t tried when I’ve visited deeply religious societies, but on the whole we’ve tried to find swingers beforehand and have met up during our holiday.
Whether there are 10 or 10 million swingers, as long as there are swingers in your area who are attractive and fun to be with, there isn’t a problem.
