I was sitting in the office pondering what I might write about for today’s blog when one of the guys mentioned an ex girlfriend who was–according to him–a bit of a swinger. Nothing unusual in that but my ears pricked up when he mentioned that she was wheelchair bound. Hmmm… things began to get interesting.
I sidled over to him, gave him my best smile and asked if he’d mind telling me more. In the name of research, of course. I’m not naturally a nosy old mare (well, I like to think I’m not).
Kind as he is, he agreed to sit down for a chat and what came out of it was very enlightening.
Now this may sound as if I’m being ignorant towards the needs of the disabled but that really isn’t the case. I just haven’t known any disabled swingers, that’s all. At least, none with serious disabilities.
Dave’s ex-girlfriend was paralysed from the waist down and while she had no feeling in her vagina, she’d told him that the feelings of arousal that she got through having her breasts fondled and the visual stimulation involved were enough for her to be able to imagine the feel of penetration. She’d certainly enjoyed sex just as much as any other girlfriend he’d had, and more than some.
And as mentioned, she was a swinger. She was a regular at a club and could often be found out and about with girlfriends. For her, girls gave her a bigger visual thrill than men did.
I don’t know about you but I found it all to be an eye-opener.
Why shouldn’t disabled people enjoy sex just as much as the rest of us?
