One of the questions I’ve recently been asked is how many people can be expected to be at a club but that’s a difficult question to answer because it depends on which club and which night of the week.
Obviously, weekends are always busier than weeknights but if there’s a theme night being arranged, you’ll probably find that draws quite a crowd even if it’s on a week night. In fact, some clubs deliberately arrange their theme nights on week nights in order to pull in a bigger crowd to make it more worthwhile staying open.
Some clubs are more popular than others and some are designed to bring in a larger crowd while other clubs prefer a more intimate atmosphere. Most clubs have websites so if Malc and I are planning to visit a club in a different area we generally have a look online first to see if we can find any club information. Independent reviews are always worth looking at because while the club itself might advertise itself as having room for 100 guests, the truth may be that the rarely get more than 30-40 guests arrive, even on a weekend night. Web forums can also be useful places to visit if you’re looking for information about clubs in certain areas.
Our club draws a decent crowd at weekends; about 50-70 of us are usually there. That’s not bad for a club that serves a couple of small towns. Obviously, clubs in the big cities would draw a bigger crowd and even some private parties can draw a crowd of fifty or more. As I said, it’s impossible to generalise.
Like I said, look online and see what information you can find then go along and get a feel for the place. That’s really all you can do.
