Did you know that most giraffes are bisexual? Well they are, and so are Turkeys! Maybe they’ve got the right idea. I certainly think so, anyway.
According to surveys that have been undertaken, somewhere between 2-6% of modern western populations are bisexual. However, these reports don’t always reflect the truth because a) it depends on which cross-section of the public they ask, and b) how many bisexuals are actually willing to own up to their sexuality.
In my experience, I’d say the number is a good deal higher. Somewhere between 10-15% probably.
It also seems that most bisexuals are likely to be swingers, although that doesn’t mean that all swingers are necessarily bisexuals.
Then there are those who fantasise about sex with somebody of their own gender but who never actually go ahead and do it. Are they bisexual? Would they own up to being so if asked by somebody conducting a survey? I’d say the answer to the first question is yes, and to the second, no. Just as a heterosexual doesn’t have to have had sex, a bisexual doesn’t have to have had same-gender sex.
It’s probably also true that more women are bisexual than men. I’m not sure why this is, although possibly it’s just a matter of men repressing their sexuality because of society’s view of homosexuality. Two women having sex is seen as something erotic, whereas two men doing the same isn’t. I’ve no idea why, though.
All I can say is that if you’d like to try same-gender sex then go ahead and do it. You won’t be breaking any rules – sex is to be enjoyed with whoever you choose as a partner.
